AKA #Jealousy

AKA has totally outdone himself with this one, turning haters into fans. I, myself must admit that I wasn't quite a fan, but after this track_ oh man AKA is the man aiming at the No. 1 spot here in Mzantsi.

I didn't quite fully comprehend the enormity of this track, (I might still not), but all I know is that people everywhere has been wondering where to downloading this monster of a track.

Well I might just have a solution for that, Miller has the Jealousy - track,but only to listen and will have it for downloading early this week!

thats SUCKED!! HIp Hop why aren't you dancing?

First thing's first, if you haven't heard AKA's new track, which premiered on Power Night of Hip Hop on 5fm last night, entitled Jealousy, then bad for you ni__a!.

Ok, now that's out of the way, on to the next one, we as you may have guessed, or not, are masters of the blame game. I remember a couple of years back (in my dancing days), there were talks that South Africa's dance industry wasn't up to 'standard', or so it went down the grape-vine. I really started believing that until yet again it changed, now Hip Hop dance was up and and the music was faulty.

Well I guess now Hip Hop music is up to standard, but dance_not on point. Etv recently played season 2  of it's "street dance" show, and I found a number of problems which dissapointed the hell of me, as a viewer.
Firstly, the stage was too small, I mean any form of dance is about telling stories through movements and music- how effective would stories told on tiny dance floors prove to be?
Secondly, the Judges.
In season one I though " The King of Kwaito" Arthur was a last minute judge and should there be season 2 be replaced with someone who actually knows about dance, like uhm I don't know_Lorcia Cooper!
Something else that greatly puzzled me was how they claimed it was a STREET dance competition, yet wanted crews to be dressed in a proffessional manner, (I mean really!)

If anything, I thought that Step Up or Step Out would be crews battling it out on stage against each other, with a challenge thrown in every now and then just to keep it interesting, but what I saw was anything but.
BOO BOO BOO!!!

I honestly believe that South Africans got the moves, but lack places to unleash them.

Hip Hop take's over Maxdome!!

I really love what hip hop has become in South Africa, doper beats, sick rappers and ill producers have made it possible, for the very first time in South Africa, to pursuit hip hop as a career _ I mean ask AKA what his proffession is.

And something else that I love about Hip Hop is the sound, it's not predominantly of American origin, and that's what I always had trouble with. Cats try , or used to rather, to be more like the Americans because of their 'flamboyant' lifestyles. But we saw the light and opted on unleashing a newer, fresher  and  awesome sound.

With all that being said I now must point out that Maxdome has had a face-lift, so to speak. It has devoured its movie-lover counterpart, so it is the new overlord of  the blog, and as such, in a more serious tone, should you find yourself missing movie reviews_ I recommend seeing  a Skerkinekor near you.

I also must express my utter dissapointment to our dance business, esp. Hip Hop dance, it lacks creativity. I just watched 'Step Up or Step Out 2' and it wasn't a street battle crew show as they loved pointing out. but more of my complaint on tomorrows post, which shall remain nameless.

The good way to start off the new Maxdome is to give my top 5 dance tracks, and by 'dance' I mean upbeat 'get up n shake somethimg' hip hop tracks.

dissapointed excitment

I really must say after watching the M.I.B 3, the nothing more that I really remember about it, although I do remember laughing while it was on, but that's about it..says a lot huh?
I do remember being excited though after leaving the theatre, maybe It was because I would watch Snow White and The Huntsman or SWATH (as many might call it), just a few minutes after. No i t wasn't it was the mind blowing trailer of Total Recall.  Judging from that trailer Jessica Biel's performance looks sweet, a kind of deep mysterious thing going on!
But in all fairness, I did say I'd say a few things about the movie so here it is: If you haven't seen it yet, wait for the DVD or Bluray!
 Ooh Snow White, Snow White, wow that movie was everything I thought it would be, it was the Superman version of  Disney's Mirror Mirror, and if I were to compare the Queens of each movie respectively, I probably would be able to, them playing their roles perfectly, (in my opinion), in their genres. That being said I must say I loved Charlize Theron's dark performance, I didn't think she had it in her.
Thats what screams out in that movie for me, I also loved Chris Hemsworth's cliche performance, it was also wonderful. There was kind of a Twilight thing going on there, Kirsten Steward being in a forest with two "hunky" guys, (Sivenathi Mabuya, 2012), but that was the thing that might have bored me.
All-in-all, the movie was a complete success, so much so i watch twice that day.
If were to rate this one, It would have to be a 8 stars out of 10.

If trailers are anything to go by these following movies will create a huge commotion in the Box Office:

• The Hobbit

• Total Recall

• Dark Knight Rises

I might possibly be the last person say this about Men in Black, but im there might be a pot head journalist who doesn't even know it, (though it's unlikely).. I haven't seen it yet, but I really want to.
So I'll make an educated guess about it (using stuff I already know about it from trailers and movie review articles). But it's not all dull and gloomy, because I'll be expressing my excitement on Kristen Stewart's first 'real' movie, Snow white and the Huntsman.

   

Well for one thing, Im looking to the widely praised younger Agent K (Josh Brolin), he plays Tommy Lee's part very well..or so I hear. I'll skip the story of the movie because..well, Im sure by now you all know, but if there's someone that has been under a rock the past couple of weeks, then "Agent J travels in time to MIB's early years in the 1960s, to stop an alien from assassinating his friend Agent K and changing history" (http://www.imdb.com/). So what to expect?. Well, Agent J (Will Smith) going crazy..well, you what I mean. Agent K's ever level-headed rationalism, (which I must say, happen to find ammusing). So all-in-all, I'll be expecting a typical M.I.B movie.

Now for Snow white..

..just by looking at this picture, you can bet this will be a good better, (worlds better than Twilight..I'm sorry but I had to get that out in the open), but more realistically speaking, the cast of this movie is so interesting, I mean Kristen Stewart (as Snow White), Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron just mention the major players of the movie.
This movie to me looks and feels like Lord of the Rings meets Twilight but with an awesome and new twist. I can't to see this one, and I can't wait to see how the actors bring the characters alive.
Can't wait, Snow white and the huntsman 01 June 2012 in a cinema close to you.

One more thing, if you"re a die hard fan of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, next week I'll be reviewing the next big thing to come out of that production hat, The Hobbit.. I saw the trailer and damn!!

The Hip hop game has changed dramatically over the years, from the giants Tupac, B.I.G, Dr. Dre, Nate Dogg, Snoop Dogg and X zibit to mention a few, to Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Jay Z, 50 cent (G-unit), Nas, Black Eyed Peas, Nick Cannon and the newest, most shocking addition to the very long list, Serena Williams. It seems like hip hop has changed from the 'smart quick lines and hard punch lines' to something soft, pretty with glitter all over and seemingly pointless, (but hey,that's my opinion), it's only a few people that has been true to the game, and even they seem to dip on the softer side of hip hop at point or another, Jay Z for example. The man had fallen into a dark bottomless pit and if it wasn't for the 'heroics' of Kanye West, everyone would be saying " Jay Z who??..oh, the dude who used to spit dope rhymes back in the day".
It does bring up a good question though, if Tupac and B.I.G were still alive, would hip hop be in this dire situation?.

I finally watched the 'popularly praised' movie The Hunger Games and contrary to some 'popular' belief that it would be a total bore,it was'nt.

It was like watching Twilight Breaking Dawn in a Bugatti Veyron doing 270km/h in a school zone area,totally mind boggling,well atleast after 59 minutes of it.

Twilight meets Avatar, imagine the technology and incredible story line of Avatar and the scenery and 'polished-snot nosed' teenagers of the Twilight series to create the close-to-brilliance that is The Hunger Games, though the movie is highly political..and no, i don't think i'll go it that, just yet, the movie was awesome and I'll leave it at that.

Sadly not everyone agrees with me, for example a girl with which I watched the movie has a slighty different view and brings up an interesting point. though keep in mind that she occasionally grabbed my arm and screamed during some intense scenes..
